NICHOLS & STONE BUILDING MOMENTUM WITH DINING ROOM AND OCCASIONAL INTRODUCTIONS

Founded in 1857, Nichols & Stone is the oldest furniture-building name in the United States. The firm continues its new-product momentum under the guidance of Tuck Nichols, representing the eighth generation of the Nichols family, with stylish creations for both dining room and occasional use. Thirty case good pieces, 34 upholstered frames and more than 100 fabrics and leathers will make their debut at the Union Square Showrooms, 410 English Road, during the International Home Furnishings Market in High Point, North Carolina.

New introductions for the dining room include three tables, two styles of dining chair and a sideboard. The Winchester Pedestal Table has a substantial 54" diameter top resting on a sturdy square pedestal. The accompanying Winchester Side and Arm Chairs offer a large-shaped back for diner comfort. The impressive 81" Westcott Tavern Table has a thick top with breadboard ends and a pair of squared pedestals on trestles connected by a stretcher. For large parties, the table can extend to 113" with two 16" leaves. Complementing this table are the uniquely designed Westcott Side and Arm Chairs. The Westcott Sideboard is flanked by distinctive raised and beveled pilasters. Three drawers sit atop three frame-and-panel doors, with an adjustable shelf behind each. The Plymouth Gathering Table is lighter in scale, with gracefully curving legs and a 50" or 60" diameter top. Also new this Market for Nichols & Stone's Freedom Collection is a dining height version of the Lenox Boat-Top Dining Table.

Enhancing the Williamsburg Collection of early American designs is the new Reclaimed Elements line of 11 occasional pieces. Both the 60" Media Console and the three-drawer Traveler's Chest are adorned with Arabesque-style hand striping detail. The Kings Colors Cocktail Table has an eye-catching parquet top design of cherry veneers with a center through drawer underneath. The versatile Publick Wine Bar can easily hold a case or two of favorite spirits. The 40" square Trellis Cocktail Table has unusual trellis-type open corner treatments with nail head trim around the top's perimeter. The Garden Gate Bookcase is accented with decorative metal back and side braces and turned posts. Rounding out Reclaimed Elements are five charming small pieces: the 15" square Turners Table; the delicate America Candle Table; the Pentagon Chairside Table with five-sided top and five finely tapered legs; the barrel-shaped Hob Nob Accent Table with metal strapping and a removable top half for storage; and the ornate Tazwell Chairside Table with leather-wrapped sides and front, nail head trim, and metal base.

The Departures Collection is an eclectic array of accent pieces reflecting influences from around the world. New to the Collectibles group is the Commander's Side Table with metal strap detail; the Dracut Accent Table with a striking starburst top of cherry veneer; the Bolton Console Table with demilune top; and two styles of Laptop Console, traditional and casual contemporary. Three new Wellesley occasional pieces with floating tops are a 46" Coffee Table, a rectangular End Table and 24" Round Lamp Table. The American Rustic group adds a 54" Console Table and a small rectangular Lamp Table, both with antiqued hand-planed tops.

Nichols & Stone upholstery introductions focus on exceptional comfort, fresh designs and the blending of Nichols & Stone simplicity with a broadening array of exciting new fabrics, leathers and options. New designs include the clean, transitional Collins Sofa and the cool, curvaceous Castlerock Sofa, each with matching loveseat and chair. Also debuting is the dramatic Brickell Wing Chair, the Parisian-retro Prescott Chair, two swivel gliders and a sectional based on last fall's best-selling Butte Sofa. A new decorative pillow program and a Master Swatch collection of correlating fabrics and leathers add further excitement to Spring Market for Nichols & Stone.
